Tribute To A Legend

Four years ago we lost Mid-Atlantic legend Johnny Weaver.Johnny began his career with Jim Crockett Promotions in 1962.During a newspaper interview that was published on Sept.20,1986,Johnny told the reporter he had retired from the ring a little more than a year before. He continued to work behind the scenes at JCP until the end which was 1988.Johnny did come out of retirement for a few matches in late 1987 prior to Starrcade.

Johnny Weaver will always be my favorite "good guy" wrestler.I sure do miss him.

R.I.P. Grizzly Smith

When Grizzly Smith wrestled for Jim Crockett Sr., he was known as Tiny Anderson.Between 1962 and 1967 Tiny teamed here with Big Boy Brown as the Kentuckians.Tiny returned to JCP in 1970 and formed another great team with Tim "Mr. Wrestling" Woods.TV host Big Bill Ward would ask Tiny to tell any new fans in the viewing audience how tall he was."Well Mr. Bill, I am just a fraction under seven feet tall." The battles that the Kentuckians had with teams like the Bolos,Skull Murphy and Brute Bernard,Aldo Bogni and Bronko Lubich and Rip Hawk and Swede Hanson are remembered as classics by longtime fans of Jim Crockett Promotions. Grizzly Smith passed away on June 12,2010 at the age of 78. Rest in peace Mr. Smith.
