The high school shows were certainly money makers for Jim Crockett Promotions.The local sponsor furnished the building, had tickets printed,sold them and used off duty law enforcement officers for security. This was the first high school show in my area. After packing as many people in the gym as possible, hundreds were turned away. As you can see in Johnny Weaver's records, it was the biggest show he wrestled on that week.

James Arthur Whitfield aka Richmond,VA promoter Bill Lewis aka Captain Bluebeard aka Billy Whiskers.During the last three weeks of December in 1936, Bill Lewis went to Miami,Fl to train with Jim and Rube Wright for his wrestling comeback.On May 1,1937, Mr. Lewis left for a tour of California.During his absence, his partner Jim Crockett took over the promotional duties in Richmond until Mr. Lewis returned in September 1937.

Jim Crockett Sr.'s First Greensboro,NC Event

Jim Crockett Sr. promoted his first Greensboro,North Carolina wrestling event on December 20,1933 after converting a warehouse into a sports arena.Nick Bozinis beat Mike Kilonis in 38 minutes with a rolling wristlock. Jim Hesslyn beat Gus (Knot Head) Pappas in the other match. Mr. Crockett donated a percentage of the gate to the Empty Stocking fund. *Note: Ramon Atkins was listed as the local Greensboro promoter for the matches held on December 13,1933. Mr. Atkins,a former golf professional, had been the Greensboro promoter since November 1,1933. George Cazana had been the Greensboro promoter prior to Ramon Atkins taking over.
